Derrick Hynes, Principal Consultant, Precision Research Services, holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Business Administration Minor) and possesses 12 years experience in both the public and private sectors.

Derrick has served in numerous capacities in the public sector, including two senior positions as Advisor to Government of Yukon Deputy Ministers, in the Department of Highways and Public Works and the Department of Economic Development. While in these positions, Derrick played a lead role on several key projects, including those more 'corporate' in nature (corporate planning, employee satisfaction survey) and those of a more 'strategic' focus (Alaska-Canada Rail Link, Northern Canada Transportation Strategy).
In the private sector, Derrick has held two key positions, as Manager, Corporate Communications at NAV CANADA and as Senior Research Associate at The Conference Board of Canada. At NAV CANADA, he was responsible for all aspects of the company's corporate communications portfolio, including research, writing, media relations, advertising and company branding. At The Conference Board of Canada, Derrick was heavily involved in the Board's human resources and labour relations research group. In this capacity, he authored numerous published reports and advised Canada's public and private leaders on these matters.
Derrick lives in Whitehorse with his wife and two children. He is active in his community as a minor hockey coach and cross-country ski instructor. And he is currently Vice-President at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club.
